The Sweethearts began as a cross between futurism and fairytale, and ended up a stunning story of two outsiders who find themselves on the same shabby margins of society. The brainchild of the ever-optimistic Steve Jamison, the film combined an A-grade cast, script and soundtrack with a wholly unreasonable schedule, culminating in a series of 5am starts, 3am finishes, and Rage Against the Machine breaks to pep up the flagging director. It also brought long-term Archer’s Mark collaborator – and now full time producer – Adam Booth into the fold, redefining the phrase ‘Baptism of fire’, and making any subsequent project seem like a veritable cakewalk...
